Mouth-Mate is a novel approach to brushing as it is a two handed technique where the patient holds Mouth-Mate as a retractor while the patient brushes. Mouth-Mate is the first patented toothbrush aid that provides easier access, comfort, visibility and most important additional focus on hygiene. We did a 700 patient study on this technique and had a 92% compliance. Patients benefitting from our retraction and brushing technique include oral surgeries (implant, wisdom teeth, etc.), periodontal procedures, orthodontics, pediatric (moms brushing and retracting young children), Lichen Planus/Pathology, elder care (care givers retracting while brushing their patient), special needs, and cancer patients going through treatment who have sores, etc. The technique works well for a consumer brushing and retracting on their own AND anyone brushing another individual (i.e. care givers, elder care, special needs, young children). Sherri Lukes, Susan Wingrove and others have highlighted our new technique. We originally designed Mouth-Mate as a protection technique a couple years ago and after further research and field feedback, we have evolved the concept to mainly focus on retraction, brushing and improving the connect into the home for dental offices. This is what we are talking about at UOR… Motive the patients to take an active part in their hygiene and the missing element is access in the mouth. Mouth-Mate allows the patient to stop guessing if she/he is reaching areas in the mouth and see what they are doing. Be more accountable, which obviously helps the dental team.
