SGSs can be easily installed on both overheads and underground cables. They are used to measure the line current, temperature and voltage with high precision and accurate timing synchronization. The wide-area timing error is less than 1 microsecond, the sampling rate is 256 samples per cycle and the measurement accuracy is 0.5%. SGSs are inductively self-powered with no pole-mounted power supply equipment requirement.
