Sahar is Manager of Grid Modernization team within Smart Grid and Technology department at ComEd where she leads planning and execution of emerging technology projects and programs such as the Bronzeville Community Microgrid, Battery Energy Storage, Distribution Phasor measurement units (PMU) and Community of the Future Pilots.
Before her current role, Sahar served as manager of regional capacity planning in distribution capacity planning. She began her career at ComEd in 2016 in the Smart Grid team, where she was responsible for developing several emerging technologies including the phasor measurement unit implementation roadmap and its first wave execution in the ComEd territory. Prior to joining ComEd, she held various technical positions in the oil and gas industry as well as research and academic positions in the energy industry.
Sahar holds a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is the chair of the IEEE Power & Energy Society’s Working Group on Distributed Resources Integration and a technical committee member of 2020 IEEE Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition.
