Director, IT, Real-Time Systems, Exelon Corporation
Ted Johnson is an IT Director for Exelon Corporation where he is responsible for leading a team of 50 that delivers Real-Time applications and infrastructure for Exelon Utilities. Johnson is also responsible for large-scale IT projects, including the Bronzeville Community Microgrid, and for designing effective strategies to increase cyber security for Exelon’s SCADA Systems.
Johnson previously served as Exelon’s IT director of Enterprise Asset Management where he led an enterprise-wide team supporting Genco, Corporate Supply and Utilities. In that role, Johnson led a $70M project team responsible for the Passport to Asset Suite Upgrade for Exelon Utilities and the integration of Baltimore Gas & Electric’s work management process.
With over 25 years of experience in the IT space, Johnson has a proven track record in IT operations, strategy, and project delivery and has held various roles of increasing responsibility at Exelon. Prior to joining Exelon, Johnson was an IT architect and project manager at McDonald’s Corporation, leading projects abroad in London, UK and Sydney, Australia.
Johnson grew up in Chicago and is active in many community initiatives focused on education and serves on the boards of ISU Alumni Association and Children Home and Aide.
Johnson received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Illinois State University and his MBA in finance from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
Ted and his wife, Deb, and daughter, Maya, live in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood. Both Ted and Maya both enjoy playing tennis in their spare time.
