In July 2013, Sumitomo Electric completed a megawatt-class electric power generation/storage system on the premises of its Yokohama Works. And in Mar 2016, Sumitomo Electric completed a 15MW (Max. 30MW)/60MWh energy storage system that was selected to be subsidized by the Governmental Program for Urgent Demonstration Project in collaboration with Hokkaido Electric Power Company which covers Northern Island of Japan. In March 2017, Sumitomo Electric also installed 2MW/8MWh energy storage system in the U.S. collaborating with San Diego Gas and Electric.
