Light and Health: Are We Ready For Applications?

Tunable white, color changing, human-centric lighting, melanopic lux, healthy lighting: catchy terms, but what does the science support? Electric lighting systems engineered to deliver "healthy" lighting are flooding the market, and so are claims associated with such products and their applications. Some are claiming that these systems will provide better health and wellbeing for all, while others are advising caution "until we know more." But what does the science support? What claims can be made based on the scientific evidence? How can we avoid misses and false positives? In what applications can these products be beneficial or detrimental? How do we compare and select these products to deliver lighting that is more beneficial and less detrimental? This talk will answer these questions and provide a third-party perspective on the topic of light and health.
