Thursday, March 02, 2017: 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM
City lights are already a vital infrastructure for most cities. Present on nearly every street corner, roadway, and parks and recreation areas, they create an opportunity to touch every resident and visitor. When a city retrofits lighting to take advantage of the energy savings available with LED lighting, the enhanced lighting infrastructure offers additional opportunities. With the addition of intelligence, connected lighting offers a new strategic platform for change. On a global scale, cities are embracing the opportunities presented by the smart city platforms, from public Wi-Fi charging stations, to first responder capabilities, to resident-based services.
This presentation will discuss the energy and operational efficiencies of a connected lighting platform, the challenges and opportunities of defining and deploying a scalable connected lighting network, global review of existing and future applications, how to safeguard the investment, and the payback saving equation.
