Description

The focus is on low-frequency, high-hazard technical rescue incidents, particularly from the perspective of departments that don't have the ability or the financial resources to develop a technical rescue team. Being unprepared can end in tragedy for all involved. You will learn how to "size-up" your community and estimate your department's potential exposure  to these types of incidents; the local, state, and federal regulations involved; and how to develop standard operating guidelines. The emphasis is on developing an enhanced awareness in all department members of the dangers involved, the specialized training and equipment needed to mitigate these incidents, where to get the required training, and how to keep these specialized skills honed and ready to use.
